Harmonix Requests Licenses For Rap and R&B Tracks
Harmonix has requested use of the licenses of tetrad hip hop and pat tracks which don't seem to appropriate into John Rock Band.
The Royalty Network is a website which aims to educate members of the music industry on right of first publication laws and how to protect their intellectual property. As part of this service, it reports when requests have been filed aside companies to employ the licenses of songs in their catalogue. In the Jan report, the Royalty Network lists requests for the following quaternion songs by Harmonix, the makers of Rock group:
- "Ante Finished" away M.O.P.(Grinnage/Murry/Pittman) administered happening behalf of Blind Man's Bluff Music (ASCAP).
- "Void the Dancefloor" by Cascada (Eshuijs/Reuter/Peifer/Reuter) Sub-published on behalf of Talpa Music (ASCAP).
- "Say Aah" by Trey Songz(Ferebee/Neverson/Scales/Walker) Published along behalf of Skelatune Muzik (BMI)/ Tenyor Euphony (BMI)
- "The Way I Are" by Timbaland feat D.O.E. (Hills/Hilson/Maultsby/Mosley/Bal'Wa/Mosley /Muhammad /Nelson) administered on behalf of Jerry Lee (ASCAP).
Activision has released games like DJ Hero attempting to cash in along the hip skip and house music genres in the music rhythm genre of games, but so far the Harmonix has stuck with rock'n'roll and roll. In fact, Royal line Network also mentions that Disc jockey Hero 2 has requested the use "I Will Be Hither" aside Tiesto Benny Benassi Remix (McDonald/Mitchell /Verwest ,Waakop).
Are these license requests the first hint that Harmonix is entering the fray and devising a Hip Hop Stripe?
